The Challenge

This one was intense. Seven days before a major event, the organizers of the Romanian Super Slalom Championship contacted me. They needed a full rebrand—logos for all three categories (Super Slalom, Super Slalom Junior, and Electric Vehicles), an inflatable starting gate, and promotional posters.

Everything. In seven days.

I knew what worked and what didn't. But this was still a massive undertaking on a brutal timeline.

The Approach

I started with the category branding. Each category needed its own distinct identity while still feeling like part of the same championship.

National Super Slalom Championship (CNSS): Bold, slanted typography with a red and orange gradient. I integrated a stylized rising sun element and a checkered flag motif into the “S” characters. Speed, power, energy.

Super Slalom Junior: Same racing aesthetic, but shifted to a bright orange and yellow gradient. Dynamic, youthful, but still professional.

Electric Vehicles (CNVE): This one needed to stand out. I used a vibrant green and yellow “electric” gradient with a sleek, minimalist car silhouette where the rear line transforms into a charging plug cable and tail. Clean, modern, unmistakably electric.

Then came the inflatable starting gate. This was the centerpiece—a massive archway (8.4m wide by 5.2m high) used as a starting/finish gate at events. The gate is primarily black with the main Super Slalom logo at the top. The legs are themed differently: one features red/orange splash effects and hexagonal patterns for Super Slalom, the other features green/lime splash effects for Electric Vehicles.

For the promotional posters, I designed event-specific materials with dark, industrial, asphalt-textured backgrounds. High-resolution photos of racing cars (including a Tesla for the electric category), event dates, sponsor sections—everything needed to promote the championship.

The Impact

The rebrand launched on time. The inflatable gate became an iconic part of the championship, and the distinct category branding made it easy for spectators and sponsors to understand the different racing classes.
